Bucks County Center for the Performing Arts Board of Directors
In the 1940s, sometime Bucks Canton Superintendent Charles Boehm, assisted and supported by world famous local artist Walter Emerson Baum, began collecting local artwork with the mission of supporting our region's artisans and to promote fine art and art education to the students of Bucks County. In 1949, they facilitated the donation of 70 pieces from local artists and established the "Traveling Art Gallery," allowing original pieces of art to be loaned to schools for the benefit of their students. The collection now stands at over 350 pieces, is owned by the Bucks IU, and is overseen by the Arts Teaching Trust Board under the auspices of the Bucks IU Lath of Directors. In laurels of the founding members of the "Traveling Art Gallery," we strive to keep with the original mission, and from that nosotros have created programs to engage, share, and brainwash.

Art On The Move
The Art On The Move (AOTM) collaborative project betwixt the Bucks IU, the Bucks County schools, and the James A. Michener Art Museum assistance participating schools integrate art as the source from which a variety of interdisciplinary curricula are implemented. A group of chief paintings, including works of the Pennsylvania Impressionists from the Bucks IU's Art Drove, is shared with interested schools for a designated period of time. Curricula by bailiwick matter (math, science, literature, etc.) and class level, directly related to the artwork drove they receive, are provided for the schoolhouse's educators to utilize. Having the original master works of art in our schools direct touches the intellectual, emotional, and aesthetic aspects of the lives of our students, staff, and community.
The Student Art Gallery
The Pupil Fine art Gallery is designed to highlight the inventiveness and talent of our county students. Each Bucks County school commune, equally well as several nonpublic schools, may select one piece of pupil artwork to be hung in the gallery at the Bucks IU in Doylestown for one year – right alongside world famous pieces from the Bucks IU's own drove.
The Bucks IU Visual Arts Advisory Council oversees the selection process and also provides the finishing touches to make the artwork ready for brandish in the gallery. At the end of the year, a dinner reception for the educatee artists and their families is held, and each artist receives a certificate and photograph of their slice.
Bucks Canton Pupil Shakespeare Festival
To exist held this year on May 27, 2020 at the Bensalem High School, this outstanding festival is washed with the support of Teaching Artists and is open up to middle and high schoolhouse classes. This canton-broad effect gives students the opportunity to translate, memorize, design, create, and perform Shakespeare'south original text. Students participate in an authentic, real-earth theatre experience where they tin can immerse themselves in creative expression. Registration is through the student's school only (students may not individually register to attend). Our 2020 Festival is the third almanac and continues to grow and aggrandize - please consider registering your student company!
Bucks County Student Arts Expo
The second annual Bucks County Student Arts Expo is beingness held on Nov 6, 2019 and hosted this year at Fundamental Bucks High School South (1100 Folly Rd., Warminster, PA). The Bucks IU facilitates this Complimentary ADMISSION event with exhibits opening at 5:00pm and performances beginning at half-dozen:00pm. Featured is a gallery of fine arts including works from sculptures and mosaics to drawings and paintings. Multi-media productions are played on monitors while in the auditorium, live performances take place including choirs, orchestras, bands, ensembles, and drama productions. An amazing array of talent will exist assembled to enjoy, encourage, celebrate, and promote the breadth and depth of arts pedagogy offered in our Bucks County School Districts.
The Rotating Fine art Gallery
The mission of the Bucks IU art collection's founding fathers to collect and exhibit Bucks County art for our canton's children lives on through The Rotating Fine art Gallery. Contemporary Bucks County artists may showroom their work at the Gallery, located in the Bucks IU in Doylestown PA, for four-month periods. These works hang side-by-side with world famous pieces from the Bucks IU'south own drove.
The pieces in the Rotating Gallery are available for purchase. The artist and the Arts Educational activity Trust Board will share the proceeds. The Arts Instruction Trust'southward portion is dedicated to the conservation and expansion of the Bucks IU art collection and related educational programs.
Pupil's Featured Showroom
In the lobby of the Bucks IU, there is a feature area where artwork from our ain special education classes is exhibited. From elementary to our transition program classes for students up to age 21, nosotros receive an astonishing selection of creative and innovative pieces to admire and share. We are truly honored to work with so many awesome students whose efforts and spirits inspire us daily.
